Termites

Termites are small social insects that feed primarily on wood and other materials containing cellulose. They live in large colonies that can range from a few hundred to several million individuals. A typical termite colony consists of workers, soldiers, and reproductive termites, each performing specific roles to ensure the survival and growth of the colony. Although termites play an important role in nature by breaking down dead wood and recycling nutrients, they are considered serious structural pests when they infest buildings.

Termites are often found in soil, wooden structures, trees, and areas with high moisture levels. The most common types include subterranean termites, drywood termites, and dampwood termites. Among these, subterranean termites are the most destructive because they build underground colonies and create mud tubes to access food sources above ground.
